A bittersweet day..

Today I also found out that Albuquerque's dear old Rollerking skating rink will be closing at the end of March. This is surely a sad day for roller skaters and anyone that has shared a laugh, a Slurpee, a novelty toy or a slow-skate over the past 30 years at this establishment. When I was 12 years old and too cool for roller skates, I learned how to breakdance at Rollerking; something I still do today. Just about every Friday night during my middle school years, I attained several life lessons on social skills, how to talk to girls and how to have fun all thanks to Rollerking. Thank you Rollerking for giving us kids of the 90s a place to hang. Now upwards and onwards to the kids of now and their ideas of tomorrow.

.Another day OUT of the office.

Today was an interesting day in the office. Partially because I was not in the office due to my second job, college. Instead I was studying for a Media Law midterm. But I refused to cash the day solely on studying. Instead, I gathered my social skills and began foot-working the streets for ideas and inspiration while on the phone setting up lunch presentations for W508 at APS schools. My job and duty to the youth of Albuquerque is to bring them all together within the common threads of music, arts, non-traditional sports and entertainment. Back to the streets, a young girl contacted me today (whose name I will not mention at this point in time) about a youth planned extravaganza/project called YouthJam. I am excited to see what this is all about so I can inform YOU what it's all about. Until then... Just another day OUT the office.
