It seems that the community is a bit confused on who can get involved with Warehouse 508. Yes, it is a youth-focused space but we need mentors and community members of all ages to contribute.
For example, the YCC is currently working on the programs and workshops that will begin once the warehouse opens. We want to have dance, art, recording, digital design and many other types of classes.
HERES WHERE YOU COME IN GROWNUPS! If you are sufficient in any type of trade or talent like the ones I just listed, we will be looking for individuals to teach these workshops come summer when the warehouse opens.
Beyond that, we want ALL community input. We want the parents of Albuquerque's youth telling us how they feel about the space, what would ensure them letting their child stay down at the warehouse for hours at a time and what would they like to see happen with their kids and the relationship of Warehouse 508.
We're trucking along with the planning process, but PLEASE don't feel left out! If you still hear that inner child calling, your just as much an Albuquerque youth as us.

A bittersweet day..
Today I also found out that Albuquerque's dear old Rollerking skating rink will be closing at the end of March. This is surely a sad day for roller skaters and anyone that has shared a laugh, a Slurpee, a novelty toy or a slow-skate over the past 30 years at this establishment. When I was 12 years old and too cool for roller skates, I learned how to breakdance at Rollerking; something I still do today. Just about every Friday night during my middle school years, I attained several life lessons on social skills, how to talk to girls and how to have fun all thanks to Rollerking. Thank you Rollerking for giving us kids of the 90s a place to hang. Now upwards and onwards to the kids of now and their ideas of tomorrow.
.Another day OUT of the office.
Today was an interesting day in the office. Partially because I was not in the office due to my second job, college. Instead I was studying for a Media Law midterm. But I refused to cash the day solely on studying. Instead, I gathered my social skills and began foot-working the streets for ideas and inspiration while on the phone setting up lunch presentations for W508 at APS schools. My job and duty to the youth of Albuquerque is to bring them all together within the common threads of music, arts, non-traditional sports and entertainment. Back to the streets, a young girl contacted me today (whose name I will not mention at this point in time) about a youth planned extravaganza/project called YouthJam. I am excited to see what this is all about so I can inform YOU what it's all about. Until then... Just another day OUT the office.

Calling ALL Community Members!!!
If you are interested in learning more about W508 or becoming involved, please get in contact with me.
I love my city & I know there is an army of you out there that feel the same.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Anything from volunteering to sitting in on community meetings held every month, in which we discuss and mold what is to become W508.
This project is a team effort, so please don't feel that the doors are closed on opportunities to get involved with the coolest thing happening in Albuquerque since.. Well.. This is about the coolest thing Albuquerque has offered in a good while.
P.S If you are a youth ranging from the age of 13-21 years of age, there are still several open positions on the Youth Creative Council. The YCC steers the ship when it comes to what exactly is going to happen within the walls of W508. Visit the W508 webpage and click on the link for YCC applications or call the office! (number listed on the W508 webpage)
